Spox: Resuming air travel with Turkey up to government
MOSCOW, Jun 18 (PRIME) -- The issue of resuming flights with Turkey is within the competence of the government, the decision is up to it, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.
“This is not a question for the Kremlin, this is a question for the government’s response center, they make a decision,” Peskov said commenting on media reports that the response center is considering opening air travel with Turkey from July 1.
Russia has limited air traffic with Turkey since April 15 due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation in the country. In late May, the government’s response center to fight the spread of the coronavirus infection extended the restrictions until June 21.
A source in the Turkish tourist industry told PRIME earlier on Friday that the Turkish tourist business does not expect the restoration of air travel with Russia in the near future, this may happen no earlier than in mid-July–August or even in September.
